Which Jobs Actually Get Nominated: PEI's Priority Sectors and NOC Codes
Which NOC codes actually get invited under PEI PNP right now, which occupations are excluded entirely, and why any list you find should be treated as provisional.
1. The Sectors Getting Invitations Right Now
PEI's Office of Immigration states plainly that it is prioritizing healthcare, trades, manufacturing, and childcare, and that individuals working in sales and service roles may not receive an invitation at this time. This isn't a permanent rule; it's a live setting the province adjusts as labour needs shift.
2. The Occupations in Demand List
A specific set of intermediate and lower-skilled roles qualifies under PEI's Occupations in Demand category, provided you have a full-time, non-seasonal, permanent job offer from a PEI employer:
| NOC code | Occupation |
|---|---|
| 33102 | Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates |
| 73300 | Transport truck drivers |
| 75110 | Construction trades helpers and labourers |
| 65310 | Light duty cleaners |
| 95109 | Other labourers in processing, manufacturing and utilities |
| 75101 | Material handlers |
| 94140 | Process control and machine operators, food and beverage processing |
| 94141 | Industrial butchers, meat cutters, and poultry preparers |
3. Higher-Skilled Occupations Commonly Nominated
Across healthcare, trades, and technical fields, occupations that regularly appear in PEI PNP invitations include:
| Sector | Example occupations |
|---|---|
| Healthcare | Registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, healthcare assistants, medical laboratory technologists, pharmacists |
| Skilled trades | Electricians, welders, plumbers, carpenters, construction managers |
| Transportation | Truck drivers, delivery drivers |
| Education/social services | Early childhood educators, social workers |
| Engineering | Civil and mechanical engineers |
4. The Critical Worker Stream Covers Different Ground
The Critical Worker stream, part of the Labour Impact category, targets intermediate-skilled roles at TEER 4 and some TEER 3 levels, distinct from the Occupations in Demand list above. In recent cycles this has commonly included truck drivers, food and beverage servers, kitchen helpers, housekeeping staff, customer service clerks, and various labourers in food processing, fish processing, and construction support. Whether a specific role is open, capped, or paused shifts through the year.
5. Treat Every List as Provisional
PEI does not publish a fixed occupation list that stays the same year to year. The province can prioritize or pause specific occupations as labour market conditions change, and eligibility for a given NOC code today doesn't guarantee eligibility in six months. Before making any decision based on your occupation, confirm current guidance directly on princeedwardisland.ca rather than relying on a cached list, including this one.
